Can Legal action be taken against me?

I have been working for Jewel-Osco for almost 4 yrs, about 2 1/2 months ago I broke my ankle and have been on short term disability with pay since. I plan on quiting with in the next couple of weeks because of a new job offer. Can legal action be taken against me because i would not have worked for 2 1/2 months and have been receiving pay and all of a sudden quit? I am aprt of the union but have not talked to them about this because the new job is not secure yet but seems imminent.
